Kenny Rogers, anyone?

I probably couldn't have chosen a less appropriate song for a post about a wedding and seeing my fella, but here we are. You may rest easy knowing that it was chosen solely for its genre and legacy and not because I too, am dating a war-torn soldier threatening to shoot me should I venture to turn tricks whilst still engaged.

Moving on..

I traveled south this weekend for an old friend's wedding, which happened to be conveniently located just a few blocks from a particularly handsome fellow I know. As such, it goes without saying that in the course of the last 72 hours I have managed to thoroughly enjoy myself; familiar faces, libations, and great music make for a decidedly good trip, it seems.

The video above is an excerpt from my ride back home, today. Specifically, it's the perfect rhythm and pitch version of my loud, off-key, making-up-some-of-the-words-as-I-go-along attempt so many fortunate drivers were privy to this afternoon... Luckily?, I hail from an area where the affinity for noisy trucks is somehow made less annoying by the actual purchase of one and where more folks then otherwise both know who Kenny Rogers is as well as the song in question, so I'm sure few people judged harshly or more likely never even heard the horror sounding fluidly from my open windows. Alright, I think I've sufficiently convinced myself... ANYWAY- Maybe it was the music or the landscape or the plethora of florals and the chambray that put the thought in my head, but in any case I can't help but notice that I seemingly paid homage to my roots all weekend long...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What? It's not like you needed to see the top of my head...

Yeah, yeahhh. I know I'm a few days behind but let's be real- you're probably just now recovering, anyway..

Similar to previous years, this St. Pat's I found myself asking a few, very important questions:
  • First, how does a woman own no less than seven pair of green shoes- flats, heels, and pumps included- yet not a single green top?
  • Second, just how much green food coloring can one ingest before it's deemed a health hazard?
  • And a third, but most imperative inquiry, where the gold at?
In a very typical, last minute attempt to rectify my first point-- or more accurately, to avoid drunk fools pinching me-- I sauntered off to the town square (not a joke) in hopes of finding something, namely anything, green to wear. After exhausting what seemed to be all of my options, my eyes delighted themselves with this adorably pleated, strapless number. Now, usually I try to avoid clothing that may allow the girls any opportunity to make an entrance, but with no other choices at my disposal I took a chance and I think it turned out pretty well. In any case, I managed to keep my dignity and share a fantastic evening with friends! Here's hoping you all did the same!

Guest Room (loosely)

I figure the best way to introduce myself is to show you my guest room.. er well, closet. I am afraid it's probably as ridiculous as that sounds. But really? Who likes overnight guests, anyway? Friends, family? No way! That's what email forwards and awkward phone calls are for. Nope, it's just me and Ladypup here- a couple of bitches (read: genteel, southern women) livin' large and hangin' loose (1)... Look, to my credit, Oxford has some really lovely motels (2).

Anyway, take a look around and let me know what you think!

(1)this is largely untrue.
(2)this is entirely untrue.

A sentiment I clearly take a little more seriously than the average Jane.
